Hello Meter community! It's been a while since our last update. No lack of effort or enthusiasm on our part; we've been heads-down creating the base layer money to power the future decentralized financial system beyond fiat!

This is the first edition of our new and improved monthly newsletter. This is the only resource you’ll ever need to keep track of all the happenings at Meter.

We hope to keep things simple and enjoyable so both techies and our non-techie followers will enjoy each and every edition.

Now that we have introduced the newsletter, let’s dive right in!

Testnet Beta Release (May):

Our very first exciting milestone was the release of Meter’s full-featured testnet in May!

It is the first hybrid consensus algorithm in the world that clearly separates currency creation and record keeping. On the Proof of Work side, we are running BTC SHA256 with mining parameters tuned for AntMiner S9 to mine each Meter at 10kwh (this will be changed to the most efficient mining hardware at the time of mainnet launch). On the Proof of Stake side, we are running BFT consensus with randomized committee election. Further major scaling solutions are on the way.

The Testnet launch has already been running reliably for over a month now!

You can now try the following:

Please give it a go and let us know your feedback — we are looking forward to hearing from you!

Community Updates image

With the initial development done, the growth of our community is now picking up nicely. We are extremely excited to start on-boarding exciting DApps on the Meter blockchain.

Keep an eye out on our Discord server for information about developer Meetups, hackathons, workshops, and challenges.

All our meetups and get-togethers will focus on how we’ll be successful together.

There are countless use cases for DeFi apps on the Meter blockchain. And, of course, we are here to guide and support you in making them come to life.

The future of Meter is bright, and we are super amped to share it with you!

Until next time — stay tuned!
